See within your mind The love that follows me As I pen these words It's my heart you now see
If these words find meaning That goes so deep within Then the floral greetings With parchment will begin
Falling with sweet tenderness Love in words we share This to be my testament The poet's daily prayer

POEMS TO ARIEL AND CATHERINE |
For Ariel Elisabeth Sainte Claire |
LONG AGO
You, my long ago daughter, My dear infant child Whom I will never hold Again in this life. How many butterflies, Hummingbirds, And falling leaves Did I count, this day you died Just before true Fall came? Before winter came? Before the winters sleet and snow And ice-storms came? 20? 30? 1000? An Infinity? Ariel, my daughter, Did you count yourself, Your own one dear self Beloved on this Earth? I DID !

For Catherine Angelica Sainte Claire
GOLD
Afterwards, I am still, Life is still, Only the landscape has motion: Clouds race west relentlessly, A team of clouds, Olympian clouds stroking Into the sunset sky, West, always west, Away from the sun's gold spokes. I miss you. I will always carry you simply, A small gold medallion in my heart, Not a sunstroke in my soul. Dearest Catherine, My lost baby, The race is over, Clouds are set, sunset, night sky still. We are both Olympian, You fought so hard to live. I loved you best. Out of all the children in this world, I loved you best, I loved you pure and simple, Simple and pure. Dear daughter Catherine, The race is over, Clouds set, sun set, Night sky still. But it was never still, Life. And you Were never a still life. You, Catherine, Were, and are, And always were, A REAL life !

This was written by Mother Teresa and is engraved on the wall of her home for children in Calcutta. People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered, Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

I wonder if you hear me The words that I will speak Will they have a meaning Find comfort that you seek
Will I touch your spirit With love beyond compare My joy in life to do this To let you be aware
That feelings are so special When gathered in the heart Words that rhyme forever Will be my special art
